Why we love it
In an exceptionally rare testimony to the enchanting artefacts bequeathed on Andalusia during the Moorish period, these extraordinary pieces of decorative ceramics, arguably represent the most faithful reproduction of loza dorada to date; adhering strictly to the labour intensive practices devised at the time of the Caliphate. Exceptional Islamic art ceramics.
Hispano Moresque Lusterware bowl by Miguel Jimenez. Ataífor Del Arbol.
The original was discovered in fragments and painstakingly reconstructed in the late 1970's to be displayed in the Alhambra Museum, Granada.
The intricate decoration and burnished gold undertones betray the passionate dedication and mastery of the artisan, whose efforts have produced a timeless objet d'art. Based on the original ceramics of the Alhambra Palace. A stunning example of Hispano Moresque Lusterware.
